Connecticut photography, New Haven events, New Haven County photos
I photographed the Run for Refugees for IRIS yesterday, and it was clear that the recent events in our country have really galvanized the people in this wonderful small city. I feel so lucky to live in a place where differences are celebrated, refugees are welcomed, and people are ready to fight for what they believe. There were many great moments that will stick with me: the first female finisher running the last stretch while making a heart with her hands; men and women in their 80s participating, and finishing!; huge numbers of onlookers cheering each and every runner and walker to the finish line; a sign that said “New Haven: Faithful to the Name”; and a huge turnout, bigger than any previous year by over a thousand. IRIS does important work, particularly at this time in our country’s history, and I encourage everyone to check them out, as there are many ways to help out.
